PEE BERLIN – A JOURNEY THROUGH BERLIN‘S BARS AND CLUBS

As an unvarnished retreat in a city that’s getting a bit too glossy for its own good,
bar and club toilets are like the unimposing expression of Berlin's raw nightlife.
My lens does not aim to show the glamorous dance floors and shiny faces, but the often
neglected lavatories. I point my camera towards stained floors, gritty walls and
spontaneous toilet art. Some of those toilets look clinically clean, while others charm you
with a washed-out GDR interior. Pretty sure someone has rolled their bill here.
This is where friends meet, people hook up, crooked deals are being sealed.
My photographs show glaring snapshots of a savage, vibrant city. And before these
places become quiet, I’m capturing them with Pee Berlin. The series is ongoing since 2012.
